Before the wedding ceremony, the morning of the wedding day was taken up with a Chinese Tea Ceremony and door game challenges for the groom. Tom had to write and read out a poem on the spot to gain consent from Ying to marry her. Although his first attempt at the poem was cleverly written and delivered it was not accepted by Ying who wanted him to write a different version with the addition of the word “fragrant” included in the verse. Undaunted by this demand from the bride Tom wrote and delivered a variation of the original poem which was captured on camera and made into a very short video:
